Pick two people on the Presidential Success list and research them for 20mins.
Give a brief description of each person in your blog. Their title, responsibilities, life...etc.
Joe Biden
Now, as the 47th Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden has continued his leadership on important issues facing the nation. The Vice President was tasked with implementing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, helping to rebuild our economy and lay the foundation for a sustainable economic future. He is also the chair of the administration’s Middle Class Task Force, a major White House initiative targeted at raising the living standards of middle class families in America. In addition, he is providing sustained, high level focus for the administration on Iraq policy and has traveled to the country multiple times since being elected as Vice President. Vice President Biden continues to draw on his vast foreign policy experience, advising the President on a multitude of international issues and representing our country to many regions of the world, including travel to Germany, Belgium, Chile, Costa Rica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Lebanon, and Georgia.
John Boehner
The Speaker is second in the United States presidential line of succession, after the Vice President and before the President pro tempore of the U.S. senate. Unlike in some Westminister System parliaments, the Speaker is a leadership position in the majority party and actively works to set that party's legislative agenda, therefore endowing the office with considerable power. The Speaker does not usually personally preside over debates, instead delegating the duty to other members of Congress of the same political party.
Aside from duties relating to heading the House and the majority political party, the Speaker also performs administrative and procedural functions, and represents his or her congressional district.

Due Friday
http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2011/03/30/president-obama-receives-transparency-award-no-press-there-see-it
This is a little sketchy! We broadcast every move the president makes, but they don't show this important award?
He said there hasn't been "boots on the ground" has he forgotten about the 2,200 marines, CIA, and intelligence forces that have all been there? Are we not doing the same thing in Iraq when we over threw the dictator?
They said in this article that President Obama could raise over a billion dollars! That will be hard for a Republican to compete with.
Could Obama not get re-elected? 51% say they won't vote for him again!

Ch 22 Foreign Governments Your Blog Due 3-15-11 You may use your books.
Your Blog.
1. Pick two countries in Chapter 22 and provide an in depth paragraph on their government and how it operates.
The United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy, with a queen and a parliament that has two houses: the House of Lords, with 574 life peers, 92 hereditary peers, and 26 bishops; and the House of Commons, which has 651 popularly elected members. Supreme legislative power is vested in parliament, which sits for five years unless dissolved sooner.
The government of Japan is a Democratic Parliment where the power of the Emporer is very limited.
The Prime Minister of Japan is the head of government. The Prime Minister is the head of the Cabinet and appoints and dismisses the Ministers of State, a majority of whom must be Diet members. Naoto Kao currently serves as the Prime Minister of Japan.
2. What are some of the similarities of the countries that are in Chapter 22?
Constitutions
One ruler but power to the people
House of Representives
3. What are some of the differences of the countries that are in Chapter 22?
Different number of people in the House and Cabinet
Very informal when talking to the Leader and other people in sessions
4. Which country in Chapter 22 do you believe has the strongest government and why?
Japan, because they have one specific ruler but the people still get to decide how the country is ruled to some extent. They have a lot of people for battle and to make money.
5. In what ways does the U.S. government relate to the methods of governments listed in Chapter 22?
Constitutions, One leader, House, and same basic knowledge

Britain Government Your Blog Due Today
2 similarities- constitution (called different) same number of members
2 differences- They have a prime minister and we have a president. House and Senate
Current Event- Britian and China are being friendly.
This is good, because this could be the first step in global peace.
Britian thinks that Barack Obama is naive about Iraq. Barack Obama has left us with two wars to clean up now. But the prospect of this pile of very dirty American laundry having to be scrubbed, washed and hung up to dry on a British clothesline is a scandal in itself. Obama seldom passes up the opportunity to remind the American public that much of the woe that that now weighs him down he inherited from the previous Republican administration. If he feels so strongly about it, why leave this airing to the Brits?
Britian thinks that Barack Obama is naive about Iraq. Barack Obama has left us with two wars to clean up now. I believe that when you run for president you take responsibility for everything that happens. If Bush was so hard to clean up afterwards why run?

The Legislature may override the veto by a two-thirds vote of the members elected to and serving in each house. The bill then becomes law.
- The bill may not receive the necessary two-thirds vote and thus the attempt to override the veto will fail.
- The bill may be tabled.
- The bill may be re-referred to a committee
2. What is a committee and what purpose does it serve?:
A group of people who revise and make a bill.
3. Read the following link and share your opinions: 1 paragraph http://keloland.com/NewsDetail6162.cfm?Id=109027
I believe that Kristi Noem and the other 87 republicans can repeal the Health Care Bill. I am happy with the people of the US knowing more about what is going on before they actually vote on a bill. Feedback is really important if everyone in the house wants to do what is best for the people.
